Just on the boarder with Normandy, a visit to the local cider farms or even the cider museum is obligatory. Enjoy the taste of apple or pear cider, calvados, pommeau or pear aperitif. Then there’s all that cheese - there are more than 1,000 different types of cheese in France and if day tripping south a cold glass of sparkling wine to celebrate your stay. Vive la france!

From neolithic monuments in our village to the wonderful 14th century chateau in the pretty town of Lassay les Chateaux - its all on your doorstep to discover and easily accessible. Beautiful countryside maybe all around you but if you want a little more formality the area offers many parks and gardens both in private homes and Chateau’s open to the public or dedicated larger themed gardens and parks. A few to recommend our Le Parc Botanique de Haute BretagneLa Pellerine and Les jardins des Renaudies. Every village also strives to be classed a ‘Village Fleuri’ which makes touring through the local villages a real treat with stunning hanging baskets and floral containers on display. For those happy to travel further a visit to the formal gardens of the Chateau de Villandry is really not to be missed!

Take advantage of the bikes provided to explore and discover the undulating countryside or the 85 kms of towpath next to the River Mayenne. Where there is water you will always find lots to do - fishing, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming or just a lazy river boat trip.
